Artist Bio
Albert Gonzales is a bold and innovative self-taught post contemporary artist based in San Antonio, Texas, known for his fearless use of color, intuitive process, and ability to blend raw energy with refined execution. Drawing influence from artists like Henri Matisse, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Vincent van Gogh, Gonzales creates work that speaks to the beauty of imperfection and the power of authentic expression.
His signature Wabi Sabi series, vivid, abstract floral compositions, celebrates the unpredictable and the imperfect, offering viewers a visual language that is equal parts joy, chaos, and clarity. Whether on canvas or through street art installations, his work invites people into a world where spontaneity and emotion lead the way.
Over the last few years, Gonzales has carved out a major presence in the Texas art scene. His solo exhibition Step Inside My Mind drew acclaim, his work is now part of the UTSA Art Collection, and he’s completed large scale public projects across San Antonio. With hundreds of original paintings sold, he continues to connect deeply with collectors who value both his vision and his story.
Alongside his wife and fellow artist Caroline Gonzales, Albert co-runs UpLift Gallery, a creative space where they curate exhibitions, host events, and cultivate opportunities for emerging artists. Together, they work tirelessly to support the local art community, not just by showcasing work, but by building real connections and creating inclusive spaces for conversation, creativity, and collaboration.
